Who We Are
The Minority Business Growth Alliance (MBGA) is a grass-roots organization that helps minority-owned businesses develop new and critical capabilities to grow. We are an alliance of professionals who work one-on-one with minority business owners, offering expertise and time; lending our skills and experiences to make a difference. We are working to create greater understanding and appreciation across cultures by making personal and professional connections that help break through systemic racism.
Our Story
The Minority Business Growth Alliance (MBGA) was established following the 2020 civil unrest in the Twin Cities. Racial equity became a focal point for our community and nation, and the social climate provided an opportunity for many to reflect on their own white privilege.
Motivated by a desire to build bridges across racial boundaries, founder Mary Rapaport reached out to her professional network, asking them to join her to support minority business owners, while increasing awareness of racial equity issues. An overwhelming response and interest of partner organizations already connected to minority owned businesses, allowed a task force to come together and build the infrastructure for Minority Business Growth Alliance.
The core leadership team shares a vision for extending the capabilities and reach of the organization. Collectively, MBGA consultants have decades of experience and a passion for helping minority business owners build equity and achieve their business goals.
Whom We Serve
The Minority Business Growth Alliance serves minority-owned businesses via non-profit organizations to help minority businesses develop additional skills and capabilities. Functioning as a workforce that supports the non-profit’s ability to serve its clients, MBGA provides the resources and processes that enable non-profits to offer their clients education, guidance, services, and access to powerful professional networks.
